Big Trouble in Little China

It had been a long time. I know I enjoyed this movie a lot growing up. The directing and acting is a bit dated, never mind that it was intentionally hokey at the time. There was certainly plenty of imagination at work. The Blu-ray has a nice clean picture. I was expecting it to look crappier.

War of the Worlds (Blu-ray)

I had only watched select scenes since getting the Blu-ray, so I figured I should watch the whole movie again. My mom wanted to watch it, too. The scene where the pods emerge is definitely still a highlight, but there was plenty of deep bass throughout the movie. I still wouldn't rate the movie itself terribly high, but it definitely does its part to appease the senses.

I really don't know what two more EP800s are going to do for me, especially with the doubts Dean has given me with regards to irregular room layout, but I'm still looking forward to getting them. Even if I ultimately decide I don't need all four for my main system, I'll at least be one step ahead when I want to put together my 2.1 channel system. Something tells me I'll find a way to justify incorporating all four into my HT, though.

Sounds like we had about the same impression of the movie. Certainly some audio demo worthy bass scenes but overall I thought that the movie fell pretty flat.

Maybe your irregular room will play nice with more subs, and trying it is really the only way I think you will know. Are your electrical circuits going to be able to handle everything you’re throwing at them?

That's a fair question in the current room. It could very well be an issue. I will definitely have enough dedicated circuits in the basement, but for now my options are more limited.

It was okay, but I was kind of expecting to like it more.

I get tired of some of the LFE that just sounds like a sound engineer (or monkey) just added it for effect, but is not in anyway part of the logical sound effects.

I watched The Bourne Ultimatum again earlier today. I still love those movies. That reminds me that I should get around to watching Green Zone at some point, though I'm afraid of being underwhelmed due to any Bourne comparisons I might draw.

I'm two episodes into Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino. Yes, Dean, I'm finally getting around to it. I'm already enjoying it and wondering where it will go.
