Henry's Home Theater Headway

I read in a book (59 seconds by Richard Wiseman) that you are more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down and tell people about them. So that is what this gallery post is for.

I want to turn what is currently "the kid's play room" into a home theater.

First picture:
This weekend I ripped tons of stuff off the walls, threw out (and gave away) a lot of toys, threw out a very stained rug, and moved out some furniture.

I will add more pics as I make progress. Next up: paint. My wife needs to decide the colour.

Looks like a nice space to start with Henry.

You might want to save up a few photos. Unfortunately you cannot add to a picture gallery, so you will have to start a new one.

Looks like a very nice sized room. One thought involves how "reflective" the room might be for music and/or home theater. The more furniture, wall hangings, etc. will help reduce this. I would also recommend a nice throw rug or carpet piece on the floor between the speakers and the seating area, this will drastically help with the "echo" often found in reflective rooms and will help tighten up the soundstage.

Shucks.

Here's today's picture.
Paint swatches on the wall. The kids want red and the wife wants brown. I just want paint.

That wall should work nicely for bigscreen TV and speakers. Big enough for a projector, if you can get it dark enough.

edit: Just paint everything black.

I like the idea of a projector (for screen size) but this setup will be used for general TV watching and Xbox gaming too. The TV has to be bright enough for daytime use with not all curtains drawn. Will probably end up with a 50" or 55" LCD.

We do plan to get new furniture and rugs. I also explained to my wife about acoustic panels. She has agreed to let me build some and she will design the final fabric coverings for them.

There's always the possibility to add a pull down screen later. Where it pulls down just in front of the TV.

At first I thought this was like a ' Where's Waldo' picture for Axiom speakers... First I looked at the picture, then I had envisioned the paragraph would say something like, "can you find the Axiom speakers scattered around this room"?

Lol, yeah not being able to add to a gallery really stinks. It's the one & only complaint I have with this site.
