EEK! How much are Padrons?... $5+ each when you buy by the box? My idea of an everyday smoke is in the $.70 region. Of course, no time for smokin' of any kind now that junior's in the house.

Thanks for sharing. Not sure I'd arrive at the exact same conclusion you did, but what the hey. Bait and switch, false advertising, hmmm...

Now I wonder if we can get back to talking about home theater equipment, or maybe you could put a big OT in the subject line. Talk about false advertising .

Maybe I'm just humor impaired today, but...

I'm going to respectfully and absolutely disagree with Tony here.

I have learned a lot from this thread, and the Home Theatre part of the forum is clearly labeled.

I feel like "Questions and Comments" basically implies off-topic.

Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar, eh? (Freud?)

Do you think it's ok to badmouth a company with no back up, then when the backup comes, it's like OK, you would have been out 2 bucks to send back the coffee you thought was something else? The customer, believe it or not, is not always right. You know, the internet is a very powerful medium and IMHO people should be a bit circumspect about what they post. And no, questions and comments doesn't mean off topic. If it did, all the posts here would be off topic. Maybe there should be a forum labeled "Off topic" so those that wanted to read the audio stuff wouldn't need to read about stuff that has nothing to do with audio.

Oh, and I just checked Amie's description of this forum:

"Feel free to give us your comments and suggestions."

Not sure if a warning about a cigar company qualifies.

I think it would be a good idea to start using the OT prefix to mark new posts as off-topic. It wouldn't be a big help both for those who like them and those who don't.

(Plus, there'd be a whole lot less complaining about them! )

Good point about the OT, Peter. I think I'll do that in the future.
I suppose it's cool to read about the home theater stuff (I learned everything I know from you wonderful chaps), but -to some extent - what I see are the same topics being covered over and over, and the same guys very kindly posting the same answers over and over. I have found the off topic discussions particularly stimulating and non-repetitive lately. I believe Tony might come to the same conclusion if he sticks around long enough.

I meant it would be a big help, but I think you know that already.

Hi Will:

I'm not a stick in the mud with regard to audio only, and I think it's cool to talk about other stuff. I guess I just was taken aback, as I thought I was going to read about Outlaw Audio, or HSU Research or AV123, or who knows who, and instead find myself reading about a cigar company. I lost my Dad to lung cancer. He was a big cigar smoker. So maybe I have a blind spot to this sort of thing. And really, I don't think it was totally outrageous for the company to ask you to send back the merchandise if you were unhappy. I think this is SOP with most internet vendors. So maybe my reaction would have been to ship back the coffee, get my refund, and leave aside the warnings on a speaker manufacturer's board.

Peace,

Tony

I am sorry that you lost your dad prematurely to cancer.
As to JR, what they did was change the product description with the intent to deceive. Simultaneously, they raised the price of said product by 200%. They did this knowing that there was going to be an increase in internet shoppers due to the holidays. Then when I called to complain I was treated with complete disdain. Henceforth, I will tell anyone who has the time to listen (and respond numerous times) not to do business with JR. In fact I think I'm going to go tell the f#%$@g neighbors all about it right now.
