Does anybody have this service or went from DirecTV to U-Verse? Good, bad or indifferent?

The AT&T trench boys have been running the fiber optic lines throughout our neighborhood for the past several days and says service will be available in about two or so months and I'm seriously considering the service. I offered a DirecTV dish as a trench filler but they passed.

Wish I could tell ya. It's not available here yet. I do know I couldn't stand Dish, provided through AT&T. Went with Comcast and although more expensive better service and quality of picture.

I got tired of AT&T calling and e-mailing me every other day to try to sell me U-Verse. This has gone on for months. The last call was a couple of weeks ago, where I told the girl on the other end, "You know, after I get a call every day for months and I tell them, no, I don't want U-Verse, that they'd get the message sooner or later that I really didn't want it."

Seems to have worked, so far.

Rick,

Just in case you were not aware, DirecTV now offers a "whole house" dvr. It is not exactly the same as U-verse, but good enough to have access to your dvr from every tv in the house. I've had it for a couple months now without complaints. A couple of my neighbors are trying u-verse and love it, but state they've experienced some technical difficulties, all features not working.

I guess it all depends on why you're exploring options.

Comcast ended our Triple Play package in May. So our $135 bill increased monthly until it was $232 in July. I only noticed now. Only when I threatened to move to DirecTV did Comcast agree to dropping HBO and my sports package to make it $140. I HATE Comcast. I hope the iTV rumors come true, I'm pretty close to bagging it all and going Hulu Plus and iTV.

I can't get FIOS or uVerse and I don't want DirecTV because I still love my Tivos, which I can live with using antennas.

The new Boxee beta came out today. I tried it on my Mac and it actually will now find Hulu vids on it's search engine. I can run it on my AppleTV but sadly, I can't do a proper 'login' so no Hulu Plus for now.

Comcast, you have a short life in my house.

Agreed. If there's any way I can get my racing from some other source, Comcast will be out of here faster than you can say "400% inflation."

I hope that whatever neighborhood we end up moving into has Uverse. I already have cell service with ATT so Im thinking a TV, cell, and internet bundle might save a couple of dollars. Plus they have total house DVR where you can record shows from any unit and watch them on up to 4 different TV's, a feature our cable company does not provide.

Their internet prices and more importantly, the speeds, seem to be on par with our cable.

Based on the extra features and the ability to hopefully save a few bucks on a 3 way bundle I'd be more than willing to give them a chance.

Of course I'll play the old "I'm a loyal cable customer" and your going to have to give me a ridiculous 12 or 24 month guaranteed price to get me to switch wink

There's no way to get racing online?

Not that I've found. Particularly not F1.
