Have you guys read this i have the ONKYO TX NR 906 i don’t live in the US but in Europe and decided to buy a full set of Axiom speakers based to the good reviews i saw on internet. But unfortunately i found them very dull, weak in treble and having nonexistent midrange! I had to place my older Bose Acoustimass 10 cubes on top of the towers. Bose boosted the midrange at least i can listen to clear and wide midrange, but still can’t hear high notes from the axiom tweeters, since the Bose overwhelmed them. The center channel VP 150 have no bass weak midrange and treble. Again i replaced them with my older Polk Audio CS2 monitor series center channel which i was using before. Polk has a warmer bass tonality good midrage and high treble tones. Same thing for the sq4 and 8’s. Having said this the M60’s have phenomenal bass reproduction. The EP 175 sub woofer is so/so kind1 of thing not to my taste either much better the Yamaha YST-SW90 Sub. In the end I am very disappointed with Axiom. I complained to Axiom but they were astonished with my feedback and to cut the long story short they did not give me too much attention as if i don’t understand what i was saying. Please don’t buy these if you intend too. Go for Polk you won’t regret it.
Thank you Audioreview of M60

Sounds to me like he had the shunting bars across the speaker terminals loose or missing.

Very odd review, since most complaints about axiom speakers are that they are too bright or forward.
When I listened to the M60 I thought it was perfectly balanced speaker, comparable to the B&W 7 series and certainly no match for Polks at the same price point.
I am still a huge fan of the EP175 for music and the VP150 is a great center channel speaker!
I think Jakewash might be right here .

Maybe Eurotrash music sounds better on Bose?

I THINK I can relate to what the reviewer heard. When I went from my budget Infinity speakers to my M60tis, I can tell you I wasn't "wowed" at first either. My Infinitys seemed more forward in the midrange and brighter in the highs. I wanted more detail in the higher frequencies which is why I chose Axioms. However, after a lot of listening to the Axioms, I realized what I was getting was a more balanced sound. I got MORE detail in the highs and midrange, but it was less harsh to my ear. It seems like a piercing sounding speaker may give the impression that it's more detailed. Hmmmm...not saying HIS Polk or Bose were piercing, but some of the Bose and Polk models I've heard were.

I agree with your assessment sonicfox regarding Infinity - they are not the perfect speaker. However, I was quite impressed in fact with the Primus series and I want to buy some now because of the value they offer. They share very similar sound qualities of Axioms like you mentioned - detailed, bright, transparent etc (whatever you want to call it). The comparable Infinity floorstander is about 50% to 80% less (depending where/what country and if you find them on sale or not) than the M60 which makes them very attractive.

" Visitors rate this review 1.82 of 5, 17.00 votes" Apparently a few other folks didn't understand what he was saying either.
