Our living room is about the same size as your room. I have M80's in it and couldn't be happier. I say you get them as you can always compare them to your parent's M60's. Get a reciever with the features you need/want but perhaps look for one with pre outs in case you feel the need to upgrade to more power at a later date.

Some updated renders adding in the sofa and surrounds....

Here is an image of what one would see if sitting on the sofa. There is a lot of stuff on the wall, hope it doesn't look to busy!

I ran the M80s with a lowly Denon 1804 and had no problems what so ever, I now have the venerable 3808 which just plays a touch cleaner when I go LOUD.

While I was waiting for the M80s to arrive I listened extensively to the M60s and after I forgot how the M22s/M80s sounded the M60s were really working for me. I wish I had kept them \:\) I prefer the look of the M60 with the exposed frontal area compared to the full grill look of the M80.

I agree the m60's look nicer, they should make the m80's a tad taller :).

Perhaps they would look better, but how would that effect the sound? I suppose if the base they raised them on were solid it wouldn't effect the interior space that is crucial to achieving the desired sonic qualities that they do. One thing that it would achieve is the improved sound quality some on this board have discovered they display when placed on milk crates. Look and sound better? Killing two birds with one stone works for me! ;\)

Ran some nice big conduit this weekend, a 2" piece of PVC and 1.25" raceway...

Should have plenty of room to run the fattest of cables :). Also started to run cat6 for my internet and telephone lines. Going to finish it up and start the coax this weekend...

Oh I didn't realize you were converting your fireplace into a wood burning stove, we're actually kicking around the idea of doing the same. How much did that part of the project set you back?
