I was wondering if you folks had any suggestions regarding mounting a VP150 on the wall. I know there is a specific wall mountable speaker, but I am more interested in learning of some options on how to take the original VP150 and mount it to the wall. I have tried a shelf, but the weight of the speaker has caused a problem, especially since the pre fab selfs don't line up well with the studs on my wall. I can custom build a shelf, but I first want to check to see what others have done.

Thank you!

The VP150 is wide enough that it should cross two studs, whether they're 24" or 18" on center. If there's a stud aligned with the middle of your screen, buy one Full Metal Bracket and use it to mount your VP150. If the studs are not aligned, buy two brackets and screw each of them into a stud. The two brackets need not be symmetrically spaced in relation to the VP150.

Alternatively, you can remove a piece of drywall, attach a 2x4 between a couple studs in your preferred mounting location, replace the drywall, and then use a shelf screwed into a stud and the cross piece.

I ended up making one for my VP. It uses two Axiom FMB's for angling. A single 1/4" 20 bolt with a washer holds the VP to the mount.

Nicely done. Out of curiosity, what type of wood are you using? Also the piece that you mount the VP to, it seems to have a bottom lip. Did you glue this piece on, use dowels, or some other way of adding this to the overall backing?

Your design is very nice, and I most likely will do something similar.

Thank you for sharing!

Burgundy Peter, Burgundy!! laugh

Ya, there is a lip on the bottom. It's read oak, stained cherry to match somewhat. I just cut a rabbit and glued the lip onto the board that screws to the speaker. There is also a square hole cut into the mounting piece for the binding posts. There was no way in hell I was going to mount the speaker with one bracket. I think that's just asking for trouble. If the speaker would drop, it would put a nice ding in the hard wood floor, plus all the other damage that would occur during its descent to the floor. A pair of FMB's is kinda spendy though. I think Axiom has these priced out of the market. They are nice mounts though.
