Has Axiom ever considered selling the M2 v3 Bookshelf Speakers as a single speaker so that if one wanted to use 5 of them for HT purposes one would be able to?

They will sell individual speakers if you call them.

There is that option available below the add to cart icon. I just added a single m2V3 to the shopping cart and it shows a price of $148USD

I notice from the specs that the SPL for the M2 v3 is listed as 91db in room

What is the max SPL?

Do they have enough dynamic range for HT purposes?

With a frequency response of +/-3dB (Hz): 70 - 22kHz what would be the best crossover point to the sub?

Max SPL: Really freakin' loud
Dynamic range: you betcha
Crossover: 80 Hz, most likely.

With M2's I think I would try a higher crossover, probably 100 to 120. But it all depends on how it sounds.

I agree. I think it would be worthwhile to try a higher crossover point other than 80hz with the M2. I don't know if I would go as high as 120 though. As to the dynamic range and power handling of the M2 for home theatre, their capabilities are dependent/limited on room size and listening distance. They would be adequate to use in a small to medium sized room at reference levels powered by a receiver.

Could you be more specific as to the max SPL?

That would be variable based on your amplifier power and how loud you can take it.

I don't think home equipement is ever measured in max SPL. I'm guessing you're coming from an auto background.

Max SPL is only really limited by the power of the amp and the relationship to the room size and listening distances. I am quite certain the M2 can play as loud as most people can stand to listen to.

To add some clarity it only takes 1 Watt at 1 Meter away to achieve relatively loud levels with an anehoic spec of 87db.

It will play as loud as you would ever need for HT purposes.

One of the tests I ran when people came over to see the system was switching between M2 and M60 mains, with everything else (VP100, QS8, sub) staying the same. I did adjust speaker levels though.

Consensus was that the M2s would not play loud enough in my (large) room if you really like to crank the volume, ie if you are one of those people who says "listen to *this*" and reaches for the volume control for scenes like the helicopter crash in the first Matrix film.

For "normal HT purposes" I agree that M2s will play loud enough
