I have a Denon 882 (80w / channel) to power my current mains (2) M3Ti's. Now that I have been saving for a couple of months, I am ready to purchase and move my M3's to the back to serve as surrounds.

Question: If you had the choice, would you choose A or B for your front 3 speakers?

A) M50s and a VP150

b) M60s and a VP100

If you have time, please give a reason.

Currently, I do not have a sub, but will be building one with a 15" driver in August.

Thank you for your input/time.....

I have a similar delimma - except that I already have the M60s - but am debating over the center channel. My advice would rest with how much you listen to 2 ch music vs surround HT. In my listening tests, the differences between the 50s and 60s didn't seem so great when listening/watching DVDs. Perhaps its because much of the dialogue comes from the center channel, or it could be that when I am watching, I am just not as critical for the listening part. So you must decide the music vs HT mix and what's important to you. Another consideration: Look at how big the VP150 is! For a center channel it's quite BIG. 28" X 7.5" MAN, its bigger than my TV! (well, not really!) Since I haven't heard either one, my guess is that either would be just fine (esp. if you only had one to listen to and not both to compare them).

So... You asked...and knowing what I know, I vote for B.

Good Luck!

In my opinion go with the M60s for HT and the M50s for music. Try to decide which you tend more to use the system for or what your personal preferences are for listening.
The M60s seem to have a more clear (and sometimes bright) high end while the M50s have a more laid back sound (not as bright for music high frequencies). **according to some postings and my own opinion**
But overall i've found that the centre channel is just a nice addition to the HT system. It adds a more fluent movement of sound from right to left channels easing the imaging issues with speaker placment and hence is not 100% necessary if you have good speaker placement to begin with. So the VP150 should only be considered if you have a larger room and need the extra large sound. If you have a smaller space, the VP100 should be perfectly fine.
Again, in my opinion...

Thanks Randy and Cheese!
Your comments go along with much of what I have heard also regarding the M60's being more "forward" than the more "laid back" M50's. Maybe one of the experts (Ian/Alan) could explain whether or not they agree with this assessment and if so, why it's true? I can't wait to get these speakers, but I am going to have to. My revised purchase is as scheduled...

June - 1 SVS PCI 25-31

October - (2) M50s (I might get the M60s Ravi....)
(2) wall mounts for my M3Tis

December - 1 VP150 (Merry Christmas to me....... )

I have been spending way to much time on the other forums (my wife is going to kill me) and you would not believe how many people are now touting AXIOMS over other more expensive quality speakers. It looks as if the word is out!

I agree with the other guy's that the 60's are a btter chioce for HT but the VP150 maybe too much centre. I have heard both the VP 100 and VP150 the VP150 is an awsome centre channel but is best if you are going to run the 80's
And at $450.00 costs twice as much plus it is a 6 ohm centre

M40s and a VP 150. The VP150 will make a huge difference over the 100, and the M40 sounded better than the M50 in my opinion.

Spend the extra cash taking your partner out to dinner, showing off how much money you saved on the speakers by buying Axiom
