So my VP100 & M22 are in the mail, and in the mean time I'm wondering about mounting them on my "typical" drywall wall. I am sure I can get a stud for the VP100, but I'm not sure yet about the M22's. Can these speakers be mounted using the bracket only screwed into drywall? I have seen the mount for the VP100 and it looks like the mount is wide enough so I can get at least one screw into a stud, but I can't tell how the M22's mount (but I'm guessing there isn't much room left and right with the M22 mount since the speaker is hung vertically). So if I can't get a stud for the M22, are there wall anchor's available that will work with the mounting brackets for the M22?

There are no 'mounting brackets' for the M22 nor VP100, there is only a threaded insert in the wood with a screw already installed in it. You simply have to pick your flavour of appropriate size/weight capacity speaker mount and use the bolt supplied to attach the mount if possible. That bolt is there for use with Axiom's own Full Metal Bracket and it works very well.

I would be a little concerned about not having the LCR you have not mounted into a stud. Those types of mounts allow for a torsional pull out from the wall, unlike the QS* T bracket. The best option I can think of, short of cutting open the wall and adding some support or using a support piece of wood mounted on the drywall but anchored across 2 studs, would be to use a Molly/Butterfly bolt as this will give the best support against the drywall.

Ah....so I did smile

My Vp100 arrived, and it does have a mounting bracket included (looks like a large T). I'll wait and see what the M22's look like when they arrive later this week.

A small T. They have 3 mounting screws. You would PROBABLY be ok with anchors, but I haven't tried it. When I mounted my on wall m22s, I went into studs with woodscrews.

The on-wall M22s are a shade under 12 pounds, which is lighter than the QS8.

I have my QS8s mounted on drywall using only anchors - no studs. Even worse, one of my walls isn't even drywall - it's 1/4 inch particle press board, with very little for the screws to grab on to. I installed anchors and a couple of molly-type bolts in the T-Bracket. Both are holding up beautifully.

Just make sure to put a screw in every hole on teh T-Brackets to spread out the torque and shearing forces of the speakers.

And also, don't go jiggling those things around once they are on the wall ...

I use E-Z Ancors for all kinds of stuff, including QS8's. Never had one fail. I think they are much better than the little sleeve-type anchors.

The sleeve type are intended for masonry/concrete but do work for light duty in drywall, the scew type linked to are true drywall anchors.
