No, Randy; setting the filter at 150Hz doesn't literally "bypass" it(that's why I used the term "essentially"), but it's far enough above the 24dB/octave low-pass at typically 80Hz which the receiver is doing that it doesn't significantly affect the crossover area. Since the filter is actually still in the circuit, one effect that it does have is to cause a delay which results in receiver distance calibration showing an acoustic distance significantly longer than the physical distance.

That's right, the DSP processing isn't part of the class D operation; that's why I used the term "basic" in saying what wasn't digital.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

All of Axiom's subs have class D amps now, the EP400 and above have the DSP function.

You're right in that the DSP must have an ADC taking the analog input, performing the DSP functions on the signal, and then passing it to a DAC before amplification.

Normally I'd be a bit more hesitant about an additional AD to DA conversion. But at frequencies this low, it is virtually lossless.

If they're just replacing the amp, you're getting the same type back. I had a Mark 1 of the EP350v3, and they replaced the whole sub when I had a defective amp. The new amp is much, much smaller than the old one and the "boot" is now built into the cabinet, not surrounding the amp. Personally, I'd call it a v4 by this point, but I ain't Axiom.

Oh geez, I wasn't even talking about the right sub. I'm sorry, disregard... AFAIK, the EP500 amp cabinet size hasn't changed. But I haven't paid all that much attention to the EP500s.

Now you're starting to sound like us 'older' folks Ken. It only gets worse.

Hi Randy. I'd unplug that sub when not in use.

A burning smell is nature's way of telling you that ... something's burning.
