When will this god awful franchise end? Please! After seeing Transformers 2 (free screening at work), I felt dumber for having seen it. I've seen porno movies with more depth of character.

You are so right. Didn’t care much for the first one and the second one totally sucked. Only now I’m twice as dumb because I had to see the second one two times. Made the mistake of watching it myself. Then my father and sister who I let pick a movie to watch about once a month just had to watch that one. Tried to talk them out of it. After seeing it they said they will listen next time I try to talk them out of watching something.

Who watches these movies for a plot anyway? Its all about the special effects and sound... That is why I like the Transformer movies. Just like I am dying to see Tron... in 3D!!! Special effects. I don't expect much of a plot. There are plenty of other movies out there with deep plots that are awesome too, but usually they don't have the sci-fi eye (and ear) candy.

Lots of people watch movies for plot. I like special effects, too, but if that's all you can point to as a reason to watch a movie, then it's a bad movie. If you're ok with moviemakers polishing turds with flashes and booms, and support them with your wallet, then I guess you'll continue to be impressed by the slide toward more formulaic mass-market entertainment churned out by Hollywood.
