I'm considering changing my system to a flat panel TV and on wall speakers. I have QS8 surrounds currently and would like to match them with M22's in the front. I think they would do fine for movies but music might be lacking. So what if I stacked two M22 on walls on each side(4 total) along with two M22's for center's (one above and one below)? This would keep everything uniform across the front and the extra drivers should help give more midbass.
The room is large at 19 x 19 with an 11 ft ceiling. Axiom's HT calculator recommends floor models, which is what I have now (although not Axiom).
Thanks Mike

Hi mike. I have and love my M22 and M2 speakers but if you really want more mid bass then rather than doubling up on the M22s as mains I would go with M80s which have one hell of a mid bass punch. In fact their tight bass and mid bass punch was one of the two things that made me choose them over Focal, Paradigm and B&W speakers I was also looking at. In my apartment I tried out dual over and under M22s with my M80 mains and it sounded great. There was a drop in the mid bass coming from the center in this configuration compared to running an M80 center. I think that’s because most sound engineers know that people just don’t usually have full range speakers as centers so they master their recordings accordingly. I actually found the missing center mid bass was more noticeable with movies than music. I posted some of my impressions in this thread: http://www.axiomaudio.com/boards/ubbthre...true#Post218171Note that the farther away you sit from your front speakers the less noticeable the difference in mid bass is between speakers because the mid bass drops off very quickly with distance especially in a room where reflections start to interfere with the mid bass directionality. Another thing to consider is a mid bass module: http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/mbm-12mk2.htmlI’ve been trying to talk myself into trying one.

Dean, I am always amazed at how much we hear the same things out of our systems, you give good advice my friend.

Dean, I am always amazed at how much we hear the same things out of our systems, you give good advice my friend. I came to that realization when I first heard my Axioms. Your posts were one of the reasons I took the “leap of faith” and placed an order since at the time there was little or no love for Axiom over at AVS with all the AV123 fanboys out in force trashing them. The tenor of your posts gave much more credibility to your opinions than theirs. As a side note I I’m putting off that test until next week when Sean comes over so he can be a guinea pig. That way it can at least be a blind test though not double blind. Cheers, Dean

Thanks for the info, however if I'm going to use floor speakers I would just keep what I have. I'm looking for a slimmer look with on wall speakers but I need good midrange and bass to bridge the gap between my sub. This would probably relate to music over movies. I'll keep researching. Thanks Mike
