While I did not watch the entire Colts/Jets game, I did watch the entire Saints/Sea Hawks game. As much as I would have liked to see the Saints do it again, I would have rather watched an un-scripted ballgame. I mean really, several kick-offs (by both teams) that only landed on the 30 yd line - not driven into the end-zone? A completely unbelievable 40+ yd run breaking 7 tackles - oops! missed again; clumsy me. To see the Sea Hawks celebrating before half time, like they knew the game's outcome already. I don't recall the Saints looking so happy on the sidelines even when they had the lead, twice.
Believe it or not, this really isn't sour grapes. Just give me a game I can believe in. I think it really boiled down to how close the game was to keep viewers watching. It's all about the advertising dollars. like my wife says - Follow the money.

To prove this out to the next game, late in the third quarter of the Jets/Colts game I was not too surprised to see a tie. I was surprised to see a very low scoring game, however.

That would imply a conspiracy that involved all the players that missed a tackle, etc.... I don't see it.....

I think they were just a couple of good old fashioned close games.

I'm in a Superbowl bracket and had NO to go far and the IND to go at least one more. So much for that. Now I want a KC vs CHI SB.

I'm big on conspiracy theories and love playing devil's advocate.

Oh, wow, Scott. grin

I understand your disappointment. I do. The Seahawks lone Super Bowl appearance (in XL v. the Steelers) still makes most Seattleites seethe because of the officiating (which WAS subsequently topic of an apology from NFL and its officials).

But, seriously, "scripted"?!?! I think two guys can fake pro wrestling; I don't think 100 players CAN fake a football game.

It was a great game. The precision on the Morrah pass and the Williams TD pass from Hasselbeck were unbelievable, but also un-fakable. That 60+ yard run by Marshawn Lynch was one of the greatest football plays I've ever seen. Even at the end, I was pretty convinced that NOLA would succeed on the 2 point conversion and the onside kick. That they did neither was high drama.

I know it's no solace, but the unbridled and pure joy in the greater Seattle area over the last 24 hours has been amazing. Maybe bigger/better than the NFC championship, a UW bowl win or many other sports victories that were more "meaningful" but less expected.

I often wondered myself how the Bears managed to make it into the super bowl a while back, and I'm a fan.

Scott, that's pure craziness, I don't know how you'd think up such a thing. It's not like referees, players or judges etc. have been caught throwing games or being unfair. Oh, wait….

I've lost interest in watching most sports for the very reasons being implied here. I believe there's an unwritten code to try to keep games close, with a preference given to the bigger market teams for higher broadcasting revenues.
