Any thoughts on decent Blu-Ray burning software?

Just looking to do data backups, not blu-ray copying or anything.

I've got a new Pioneer BDR-206BK and a spindle of 20 blank discs. I need to back up some digital photos (in 2010 we took about 24GB in photos). At some point I will also be "authoring" some of our HD home videos as well and putting them on to blu-rays (instead of what I was currently doing with AVCHD onto dual layer DVDs)...

Anything decent out there? I've been using Nero 9, but I don't want to burn any coasters with these $2.50 per disc blu-rays.

There's nothing better.

Ah... Good ol' ImgBurn... I think I have a recent version on my PC that I've overlooked... I will have to check into it again...

While it won't do any authoring, it will recognize the BD Video structure of already authored content and make sure the disc is burned to spec. This goes for most every type of disc.

So create the disc "image" in something like Nero, but then burn it with ImgBurn to ensure best success and fewest coasters, right?

You can make the image in Nero, but you don't have to. ImgBurn will collect the files and burn directly from there (it can also make a disc image to burn later).

I'm just saying it won't make DVD/BD menus, or render video, or set chapters, but if you give it a directory structure that looks like a DVD or BD video disc, it will make sure the files get burned in the right order, and the disc is as close to spec as it can get.

It's just burning software, but that's what I like.

Yeah, I've only used it to burn existing images, and use other software when compiling images. I've never even looked at it for collecting the files and burning them... Thanks Chris!

Now that I am home, I looked and I had v 2.4.x.x of the ImgBurn already installed. Now I am at the latest 2.5.5.0 smile

Amongst their many other crimes (particularly against documentation), can we blame open source software for the proliferation of subversions? 3 dots? C'mon, people.
