I thought some might be interested in this since there has been a lot of talk about people here using/buying devices just for streaming Netflix.

Good thing I have about 300 movies in my Netflix queue.

I don't think this is really a big deal; it's not like you can't add to your instant queue from one of those devices.

I just watch on my HTPC so I don’t care about streaming to other devices myself.

It's not preventing streaming to anything, it's just that you can't add movies to your DVD queue from your streaming device. Oh well?

It doesn't bother me too much. But there has been a case or two, when I was searching for something through the PS3 interface, found it wasn't streamable, so I added it to my disc queue.

Where it is stupid is for the people with iDevices, who use the Netflix app. At least I still have the Movies app on my Android. Being able to add something to my queue that I see while I'm out and about is really nice, rather than having to remember to add it when I get home.

Why not just use Safari on the iOS device...

Yeah, that would work. I could use the Mobile Chrome on my phone too.

I think people are just getting upset that Netflix is giving the appearance of moving away from shipping discs. Now the view from within a streaming app is that there are nothing available but the streaming titles. It's like the rest of Netflix doesn't exist.

For people who prefer streaming I guess that's good. But the quality isn't there (they're not even as good as Vudu), so I'm one who still wants discs first, and will just stream something when I'm bored.

There are several 3rd party apps for the iPhone that will let you add discs to your shipping queue.

I think Netflix is trying to make it more difficult for people to add to their DVD queue so they have to ship less disks... Lame. O well, not like it isn't very hard to fire up a computer to add a disk like you had to before they even started their streaming service.

Perhaps people were accidentally adding movies to their DVD queue when they meant to add to their streaming queue and as a result Netflix was shipping out disks that people never wanted in the first place?
