I have no use for it, but I could see it being convenient for people with whole home audio.

It's only rated at 40wpc. That'd be enough reason for me not to buy it.

If you were doing something like active-crossovers, 40 Watts becomes a lot more useful. But ATI's 12-channel amp http://www.ati-amp.com/at6012.html still seems more attractive from every performance measurement. Though I'm sure ATI's costlier too.

Right, but as CV alluded to, I don't think this is designed to be the driving force in a dedicated home theater room.

It says it's designed to be a rack-mounted, multi-room amplifier. That's for a whole-house audio system. In that sort of setup, 40w/channel is perfectly adequate to drive pairs of smallish in-wall speakers in various rooms at soft to moderate levels. You wouldn't need 100+ watts/channel for that sort of application.

Think background music in the library, kitchen, or bathroom. Not rockin' out in the HT room. wink

Yeah, that's what ATI's is for too. But you get people doing things like this: http://www.linkwitzlab.com/orion_construction.htm

I think ATI gear is terrific. Robust like a tank is robust. Very high sound quality for those who believe that not all amplifiers are the same.
