I have also run rew and the bfd. It is pretty much set and forget. Rew will generate the EQ values you enter into the bfd and the bfd interface is very simple and straight forward to use.

REW can be a challenge to get going.

Fred,did you run Audyssey after REW? Did the autocalibration changed the results that you had obtained with REW? Did the bfd help in your case?

I did not run Audyssey. I'm not a big fan. If you have issues above the bass region, EQ won't do much besides move the problems around.

Yes, the bfd helped a lot. I had a huge peak at 52Hz no matter where I put my sub. EQ was the only solution here. I would not say there was a night and day difference (despite an 8db cut) but it brought out more detail in the bass.
