Description
Redid the home theater after about 3 years of using it and deciding what I wanted to change. I'm still waiting for the door hardware to come tomorrow, as well as the pegs for the adjustable shelves in the media center, but here it is.

Things you can see:

1) Added sconce lighting.
2) Replaced carpet with wood laminate flooring.
3) Added crown moulding.
4) Replaced media center with something more functional.
5) Repainted the room.

Things you can't see:

1) Opened back row platform floor and filled it with 3000 lbs of sand to stop room vibration. (It worked!)
2) Filled ceiling with 8" of blown fiberglass insulation.
3) Replaced hollow doors with solid doors.
4) Installed wall plates for all sound and video connections.

Night and day difference from before!

Beautiful. I'm so jealous of your theater. And that's a lot of sand.

Beautifil workmanship, Steve!

When you say night and day, are you talking about the quality of sound, or more about the appearance?

Thanks guys.

Both the sound and appearance are much better. As far as the sound goes, I had a nasty resonance at 60Hz that the platform was amplifying. Filling it with sand really did the trick, it feels as solid as the main floor now. Also, removing the carpet has given the room a more lively, 3-D sound.

The appearance is more "theaterish" now. Since I painted the celing red too, it does not photograph well with my point and click camera. I'll have to figure out a way to keep the shutter open longer.

CV forgot to ask how those bags of sand felt.

Great looking room Steve. I wish I had a room like that!
Have you tried a flash with your camera or were these pics taken with a flash camera?

Some pictures were taken with the flash on, and some off. I can't set the ISO exposure with this camera though.
