Hi all,

I saw the other thread about in-walls, but my question is a little different, so I figured Id start a new thread.

I'm working on upgrading my HT system. I currently have a Denon AVR 591, a Yamaha YST SW100 sub and some Yamaha 3 way in ceilings. I wont be replacing any of the above at this time.

I'm starting by replaing my LCR speakers and my TV.

I have to use in walls because my design team (wife) says so.

I'm looking at the M22 and the VP100. I read in the other thread that anything more than the M2s when used with a sub may be overkill. Is that true?

My living room is a prtty large one. Its about 25' by 35'.

I love listening to all types of music from Jazz to hip hop to heavy metal, so I need a well-rounded sound. I also love when movies like Inception rattle my bones.

Should I get the M22s? I've been drooling over those for weeks now and I'm just about to make my purchase. I'd like to do this right from the start this time, which is why Im starting with only the LCRs.

Any advice?

Hello, yello; welcome. Since even when a sub is used for the low bass, the M22 has two of the 5 1/4" drivers handling upper bass/mid-range, rather than one as in the M2, it can play those frequencies at a louder level with low speaker distortion. Whether that's meaningful in a particular application would depend mostly on listening distance and average sound level used. The treble frequencies should be essentially identical.

M22. I'd only use M2 when M22 don't fit.

I also feel you'd be happier with the M22 vs the M2. That's a very large area, btw....depending on your listening level, I hope they'll be enough.

I'm thinking the design team would need a vacation in Hawaii to discuss the viability of that, Bruno. laugh

You are correct, sir!

Thanks for the replies, everyone. This seals the deal...M22s are on the way!

Quick side question...

Does anyone know if Axiom is designing in ceiling speakers? It would be great to stick with Axiom for everything I need. I know about the QS4s, but I don't think my design team would approve of them hanging from the ceiling. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Might be something for them to consider....

An alternative might be Paradigm in-ceilings, athough a different brand, many people have had success incorporating surround speakers from Paradigm and visa versa with Axiom due to their similar sonic abilities.
