for a HT setup, the optimal placement of my front speakers would be 14' apart (won't be in front of the windows). I will be sitting on center 12' out. the room is roughly 25'x16' and this would be using M22's. is a 14' spread too much?

VT, it's slightly wider than the 12' or so which would be suggested in that situation, but should sound fine with the M22s slightly toed-in so that the tweeters point at your ears.

If your speakers are 14' apart, and you're sitting 12' back on center, then you're about 13.89' from each speaker. That's pretty close to having an ideal equilateral arrangement. Nothing to worry about. As JohnK mentions, be sure to toe them in a bit.
