I popped in a Paul Van Dyke "OUt of the Blue" CD the other night and all I can say is....holy %^&*! I've never experienced the music like this. The first song on the track was mesmerizing...hearing subliminal messages looping in the background i've never heard before..and the pads seemed to be three dimensional ballooning type of feeling..
very weird but awesome!

PVD is classified Electronica/Dance now...eshhh...I thought he was still Trance.

I hope Tiesto doesn't go that direction.

Trance, electronica/dance -- I shove all of that stuff into the "glow stick music" genre -- much to my own detriment, I'm sure.

I do too, Peter. Though I must admit I listen to a lot of it.

Check out Hybrid, Propellerheads, Bent, Fluke, and Underworld.

I really dig some of those.

Blue Man Group and Orbital, too, are great and could be classified somewhere along these lines.

Orbital can be good as well. I really dug their "hit", The Box from their Insides album.

To throw in a plug for BMG, if you can see them, do it. It's an incredible show.

If you're in Vegas, I think that Mystere and O are better, but BMG really should be experienced.

Whatever happened to Properheads, Fluke and Underworld...excellent albums
Don't forget Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Crystal method

...and umm...crap... I forgot the name of the artist ..album name Mezzanine...where the hell did I put that CD...that would be a great CD for a Axiom HSU or SVS setup...that was bass heavy..

Mezzanine is Massive Attack.

Propellerheads have been busy developing studio software (Reason).
Fluke is non-existant.
Underworld just released an anthology and is working on a new album.
Chems just released an anthology with 2 new songs(Get Yourself High and The Golden Path, both ace tracks)
Never liked Crytal Method.
If you like electronica, check out Erland Oye-Unrest, Kaito-Special Life, Air-Talkie Walkie, Ettienne De'Cracy-Tempovision, Royksopp-Melody AM. If you want more, just ask, I have thousands.

Massive Attack is pretty good.
I sure do wish there were another Propellerheads album. They were/are incredible. I use their CD as a subwoofer test disc all the time.
Underworld's recently released anthology is terrific.

Here's a few more favs...

Bent
Groove Armada
Basement Jaxx
and of course...Moby, Moby, Moby!

Well in an interview he stated that he doesnt classify his music as trance or house. He basically said he just loves to make electronic dance music.
PVD has been my all time fav for years. His music just makes you happy..Lots of positive energy in his music.
My second favorite would probably be Dumonde. Thier instrumentals are fabulous. Thier compositions are comparable to classical pieces ...but instead of violins
and cellos, they are using modern synths...Check out the tune "atmosphere"..It'll blow your socks off.

Ahhh...I tend to like the more "organized noise" (as I call them) type bands. Groups like Autechre, Aphex Twin, & Mouse on Mars come to mind as my favorites. None of these are very danceable though!

Do you have a link to the track by Dumonde? I would love to listen to it but I can't find the track anywhere. Juno Reactor is definitely my favorite (and only favorite!) in the trance catagory. However, this song, "Atmosphere" you are describing sounds more ambient.

well you know nowadays its hard to find an mp3 on the web thats free from professional artissts. Email me and we can ..."find" a way for you to listen to it..
If you want a quick sample of I think this may work,
just type in Dumonde in the quicksearch:
http://www.dancerecords.com/search.php

By the way, the song is not really ambient...well maybe a little in between. It's more like a massive string section playing a lead which leads into a an arpeggiated ripping bass line that climaxes into....everything goin at once in a driving rythym....sort of, heh.
