I have a Denon 3803 and just bought a pair of QS-8's. I would like to know which is the best setup and why Axiom recommends having QS-8s as a rear surround and a side surround. I have been told that the best setup would be the Bi/DI polars to the sides and a direct speaker Mt22i for the rear. Which is the best setup either 4 QS-8's or 2 QS-8 and a set of Mt22i's. Room is 14x23 with a 9.5 ceiling for the first 14' and raised 1ft in the back for the last 9'. Floor is built on concrete with 2x6 studs and 3/4 plywood insulated between the studs and with carpet for flooring. This is a home theatre 90% and music 10%. Right now I am deciding on either the Energy Connisours C-7's with the matching centre or the Axiom Mt80 and the 150 centre

troyd,
The idea for using the QSx speakers as surrounds is based on their ability to disperse sound effects in a more abstract way creating a diffuse sound effect that makes it hard for the ear to localize. Dipole speakers do something similar by firing in 2 direcitons. The QSx design fires in 4 directions (essentially).
That being said, some people do prefer using direct radiating speakers for their surrounds.
You can see my thoughts on this subject at this old post.

Secondly, if you are interested in other's opinions on the Axioms and Energy speakers, you can read my thoughts at this recent post on a slew of speakers i went to audition with a friend.
