I have had my M22's for four months now and they are finally broken it. I bought a mini amp (Musical Paradise MP-301 Mk2).
and will connect it to the avr's pre-outs. The question I have is will my two powered subs still work through the avr when I switch the avr's mode to surround off for stereo mode The M'22's will be connected to the amp.
Now I get to ogle glowing tubes. crazy

It really depends on your receiver. Some have the sub off by default for stereo mode, but usually on those there's a menu option to turn the sub-out back on.

What's the make and model? Maybe someone who owns one can help you out.

Bob, it's good that you're enjoying your M22s fully now. mine were great the first time I used them and haven't changed in nine years and well over 20,000 hours.

Sure, if you used EzSetEQ to set up(which you should)the M22s were undoubtedly set "Small", so selecting Stereo mode will automatically use the subs, the amplifier makes no difference. If you set up manually, set the M22s "SMALL" and with an 80Hz crossover.

Since you mention two subs, it's worth asking if you've placed them in positions to minimize the effect of room modes on bass smoothness, e.g., at mid-points of opposite walls or in diagonally opposite corners.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

JohnK, I set eq up manually. I did not like the sound from EzSetEQ. The crossover is set to 60HZ to match the M22 Freg. range. My set-up for the two subs is diagonally opposite corners. The sub crawl worked!!! And yes, ALL speakers need time to break in. My 22's did not "disappear" until after 150 hours of break-in time. Can't wait for the warm glow of those tubes.

Oh no. Everyone stay calm!!! grin

But seriously, welcome to the forums. Aside from the helpful db calibration part, I too didn't like the sound that Audyssey kept coming up with in my particular room environment. I didn't even end up setting it manually as I kept going back to an unchanged signal "Off" as my preference.

Don't be afraid to experiment with the crossover setting a bit. 60 might be perfect for you but half the fun is in tweaking. My M60s play a bit more easily than the 22s into the deeper ranges but in the end, 80 still ended up as my preference for a crossover.

My philosophy is, whatever sounds makes you smile.

With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

All of the professional reviewers that review AVR's with auto EQ options say to throw out the antena and balance the HT manully. I concur whole heartly. I have experimented with the crossover and 60HZ is the best sounding for my two subs.

I have been tweaking my system since day one. Just by the correct tweaking one can turn a $1000.00 system to sound like a $2000.00 system.
