My M22v3 tweeter stopped working two weeks ago. The speaker was ordered in January of this year from stock. Axiom is sending me a new one but why did the tweeter go bad? Has this happened to other Axiom owners?

It almost certainly has happened before. Fortunately it's an easy and quick fix. Still, sorry it happened to you.

I'm sure it has happened to others. Personally I didn't get tweeter problem but I had a defective woofer on my M80s and a defective mid-range driver on my QS8s. What kind of amp do you have? Do you listen to your speakers loud? If you have something powerful, maybe you gave them more than what they can handle, if you have a typical AVR, maybe you drove your amp into clipping and that can damage the tweeter. Maybe it's just a defective tweeter, who knows? Did you check to see that the wire was still attached to the driver, maybe it came loose? This kind of misfortune happen time to time but rest assured that Axiom always makes it right, so replace your tweeter and keep enjoying your excellent M22s.

Robert I had a tweeter dome shatter like glass for some unknown reason several months back, Axiom replaced it and I sent the bad tweeter back but never have heard what their findings were with it.
It happens ... sometimes.

The AVR I have is the Harmon/kardon 645. In stereo mode the wattage 85. As far as clipping goes I have never driven the speakers past -20. I did remove the tweeter and both wires were connected tightly. Maybe just a bad driver, it does happen from time to time. As Alan Lofft has said, under powering speakers do more damage than over powering them.

Hi Milford3,
Yes, a driver failure does happen occasionally. Sorry it happened, but please call the toll-free number and speak to JC or Brent and a new one will go out to you.
The drivers are checked with a sweep frequency in a mini-anechoic chamber before they're installed in the enclosure but there are occasional faults that surface later.
I doubt you overpowered your M22v3's given the levels you're running them at.
Regards, Alan

Axiom is sending me a new one but why did the tweeter go bad? He must have already called Axiom or they read his mind.
Whose avatar should I borrow next?

The tweeter arrived yesterday and installed. Nice to have my M22v3 up and running again. Thanks Axiom! I took apart the non working tweet and found out why the tweet wasn't working. Their is a thin wire that runs from the neg/pos leads into the middle of the tweeter, and this thin wire is attached there. Upon inspection I discovered one wire detached. Also, the medal clip that the white wire is clipped onto came off. Anyhow, things happen sometimes.
