Hey Cam,
I believe you use a speech to text product. Mind if I ask if it is "Dragon" or some other product?

I'm interested in maybe recommending such a product to a friend who will have some keyboard challenges for the next year or so after injuring both her wrists falling off a deck. She put her arms out to break her fall but the angle her hands hit pushed everything back to far.

Yeah, buddy; I do use speech recognition. I've used Dragon, and it's an excellent product, but ever since I got Windows 7 Professional, I've been using the dictation software that's loaded with it and it works very well.

Does she have Windows 7?

Sorry I'm brief, but I'm currently limited to using the on-screen keyboard because I can't wear my headset now that I'm wearing glasses.

That's a great point Cam. I'm not sure what OS she uses. I had forgotten there is a built in Speech to Text program in some versions of Windows 7.

Thanks!

PS.
I wonder would a smartphone style headset (ear buds with an inline mike) solve your headset dilemma? Probably depends a lot on the mike quality. I have an unused Apple version you would be welcome to have if you want to try it out.

Andrew, thank you very much for your generosity, but I can't use ear buds because I don't have the use of my hands, and thus can't put them in when required (I also find them uncomfortable). I have to wear my headset all day long, or not at all.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help your friend with. I may still have Dragon sitting around, and it's hers if I do. Or if she decides to purchase it, she should be able to get assistance for it because it's an expensive program, and I'd be happy to help with who you'd need to contact.

Hope she gets well soon.

Good point. I never thought of that Cam. Where are the damn robots we were promised by 2010.

I will let her know about your generosity as well. I'm dropping over to the hospital tonight to see what she has for a laptop.
