As we all know, wiring up QS8s don't easily allow for using banana plugs, which is fine with me, but what are people doing for where the speaker wires come through the wall?
For those that like banana plugs, you would just mount a wall plate that allows you to plug banana plugs in to. But what if you don't want banana plugs, or need to mount the speakers ultra flush with the wall?
In my previous theaters I just drilled a small hole right in the drywall and just fed the wire through. I would like something a little cleaner than that, but don't want to spend much since it will ultimately be hidden anyway.

Here's a recessed speaker wall plate that looks like it'd do the trick. Takes either small bananna plugs, or bare wire. Only trick looks like maybe not an easy connect on the backside wire.

Yea, I've seen those type before. It seems like it would work fine. I am just wondering if people here actually use them, or if they just do what I was doing and just drill a hole for the wire either in the wall or through a solid faceplate or what...
Since I am wiring for 8.2 (even though I will start with 7.2, that would mean 5 of those at $35.75 for something that will never be seen.
I am going to use regular banana plug style front speaker wall plates so that I have an increased flexibility with things like toe-in and speaker placement, but once the surrounds are up, they aren't moving.

I was thinking about using maybe the old telephone line style or cable TV faceplates, with the circle cutout in the middle.

I'm just going to run the wire through a hole in the wall, maybe get some sort of insert, like the coax type to make it look better, it will all hide behind the recess of the Q's.

i have speaker wire face plates. http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=2232&sku=37073#these are the ones i have, you can get similar ones off of ebay for a bit less i thinkg... They say 14 gauge, but i have 12 gauge ran to them. prior to having these, i had the speaker wire though a hole, that was just the right size... Having the plates however make everything look much cleaner. I mainly did it for when the house is sold. Instead of having bare wires sticking out of the celling when we go to sell, we will have the plates.

Hmm... Can you still fit banana plugs on those and have the QS surrounds fit flush in front of it? I was thinking of something like the picture below as an option. I am not a huge fan of spring clips, but they could work maybe...

I used something like that in my previous home (recessed spring loaded). For my new HT I'm actually just planning to poke the wire thru the drywall thou.
