I just got these speaker spikes from partsexpress and I am wondering exactly how to install them in my stands. They came with no instructions. Anyone have these?? I want to know exactly what I am doing before I start drilling.

According to the wesbsite, you need to pre-drill 3/8" holes in your stand.
Then, I assume you use an allen wrench to screw the threaded inserts into the wood. Then you just use your fingers to insert the spikes into the threaded holes.

I saw that on the site. But is it 3/8 deep or 3/8 diameter. The inserts aren't really threaded. They have teeth on them and they look too rounded on the inside to use an allen wrench. I was hoping someone had and used these and could offer some advice.

It's definitely 3/8" diameter, made using a 3/8" drill bit. This page from the catalog is slightly more clear.

I'm wondering if these can even be used for stands. The base of my stand is only 1" thick and the inserts are 1/2" deep. That leaves 1 1/4" inch of spike out of the insert.
