I'm planning on listeneing to member's home theater system this week - featuring Axiom speakers. I've been soaking up several website's forums over the past few months where almost everyone that writes extolls the virtues of the Axiom product line; so I'm really thrilled with the possibility that these speakers might be the right product for me.

Anyway, I'm looking for input from those of you who have purchased Axiom speakers in the Maple finish. Are they really as white as they appear on the website photo? My wife has all along insited that she wanted black speakers, but now just informed me that any surrounds would have to be white. Obviously, I'm hoping to avoid going the special finish route, which is why I'm appealing for answers with those among you with experience.

Please advise,

Thanks

Pat

I own maple speakers with tan grills. They match my maple IKEA furniture perfectly. If you have that Minimalist/ European/ IKEA look. There are no better looking speakers in this price range. Whenever people come over, guys marvel at the sound and girls are amazed at how well the speakers disappear into the decor.

They are a very light color, I think lighter thean they appear on the website. I can not see her being dissappointed with the look of the QS8 in maple on her white walls. Especially if you have the tan grills. They definitely disappear.

I have Beech QS8s with gold grilles, but before I bought them I had Axiom send me samples of both the Maple and Beech. The Maple is pretty darn white - the color of maple furniture before it's been sealed.
And, of course, if you're certain you're going w/ Axioms of some sort, they'll send you finish samples at $10 each - refundable after purchase.
That's the end of my customer service duties today. Where's the beer thread?

I just got mine in Maple with black grills a few weeks ago. My impression from the web site was that they were completely white.

In real life, they have more of a wood grain in a light tan (beige, maybe?) showing through the white (which is just a few shades "off" of white) than you would think from the pics on the site. They look very nice.

If I had a decent digital camera, I'de snap a close up of the cabinets for you, but I don't .

I feel your pain. I made a plea for pics a few weeks ago...

Thanks so much for your replies, especially to Michael. That was exactly the type of information I have been looking for. Once I hear the speakers (this week - hooray!), I may well engage the Axiom staff to send me finish samples - just to keep the ball'n'chain reasonably happy. Oh well, a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, so long as I can get the right products to produce the kind of sound that we all desire.

Thanks,

Pat

I had exactly the same spousal problem. The maple finish did appear to be white on the webpage, so I ordered them with tan grills, with the understanding that if the wife wasn't pleased I could return them. The speakers arrived and the finish is actually more of a natural wood finish, though very attractive, they did not fit into the wife's decor. Called Axiom and special ordered eggshell white with eggshell white grills and was told it could take up to six weeks to manufacture and deliver. I received them in less than two weeks and Axiom even let me keep the maple ones until the new ones arrived (great customer service). The eggshell white really looks good and received spousal consent. It cost me an extra 95 bucks, but the wife is happy. Not that it would do me any good at this point, but maybe Axiom should consider offering the surrounds in white as a standard finish.

I would say the maple is of the same coloring of bleached oak or white stained oak very light but more to the grey than actual white. Calling it maple is not what I would call it. Since most maple when sealed has an amber color to it. One day I might get around to posting a some pics of my maple with black grilles. Not much spare time with 2 little ones.
