Outriggers for towers

I've been playing around with my Sketch-up again and did some outriggers for my M80's.

These are a basic design but you get the idea...now all I need is a metal fab shop!

The metal fabricator can bend 1"+ stock. With lighter metals you can add bulk without weight however costs may become too expensive.

I already dropped the center bar as we came to the same conclusion. That and it makes construction simplier.

As for the slots my neighbour recommended this also so that was added too!

It's good to know we're on the right track and thanks for your insight!

Right on.

I think the spikes at PE are pretty popular and they come in several colors. I don't know if there is another "industry standard" for this sort of thing, but thought I'd offer these as a companion to your prototyping.

Here's a similar product at Madisound:

Obviously, there are other sizes and profiles for this sort of thing, but I don't think you'd want something "small" because of the size of the speakers.

You're going to make these for M60's too, right? grin

Thanks for the links.

If we can get the fab shop to make the outriggers we'll get them to fab the spikes as well. But these would be a great alternative.

I haven't looked at finishing yet. I was thinking 'powder coating', either in high gloss black or silver.

Maybe you could make them to use the original rubber feet too because those spikes would kill my hardwood floor or if I put the M80's on top of my subs.

The rubber feet wouldn't work with the dropped center of the design, the outrigger would need to be flat of we would need to use a thicker rubber foot, Pucks maybe? wink

Please go to this link as I've made a redesign

http://www.axiomaudio.com/boards/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showgallery&Number=355753#comments

and jakewash is right the drop center does prevent the use of the shipped rubber feet. However if you check out tomtuttle's links above you'll see that the issue is solved with the addition of small metal slugs to prevent scratches.

Thanks all
