I just connected up a TV in our master bath, but I fear that if I get a regular universal remote, it will go for a swim. The catch is that it needs to be RF as this is connected up to TV2 on my Dish 722K receiver that is in the home theater.

Probably too much to ask.

Maybe I will just put a Dish remote in a Ziploc bag...

I can't imagine there are too many waterproof universal remotes made. It would be a niche market for sure but surely someone has gone after the hot tub crowd.

Google did find this.
Weather resistant only, but it does say it is "completely sealed" It might survive brief immersions.

You might try the forums at RemoteCentral.com.
I found it a great place years ago when I was researching universal remotes. Hopefully it remains friendly and useful.

It must squeak when you squeeze it too. Rubber duckies that do not squeak are a very sad thing.

Yeah, I forgot about RemoteCentral... They are huge fans of URC remotes. I mean, I love my two Logitechs, but they say that they are crap to everyone that comes on the forum and that the only real remote is one of the URC models. It has been that was for a couple of years, so I just kind of drifted away from that site. Maybe since this is unique, someone can recommend something that is at a good price point that would work regardless of brand.

Then again, others are doing it....

I can sure buy a lot of Ziploc baggies for the cost of a remote.

Five years ago, IMHO URC definitely provided a superior model for those who required and were knowledgeable & patient enough to do some custom programming. At the time, Harmony (now Logitech) was much more limited in being restricted to whatever the GUI downloadable configs could do back then. Harmony was definitely the better average consumer choice though. Probably still are and that is why they are more successful today.

For instance at that time, programming double click codes to simulate an unavailable, discrete on/off code was not an option on Harmonys. For me, the ability to do things like getting deep enough into my Denon's sub menus to automatically chose different DLP settings based on what source I chose, was not available on Harmonys back then.

That was five years ago though. I'm guessing Harmonys are much more robust now and I bet one would now suit my needs fine. I can not comment though because the touch screen URC I purchased back then is still serving me well, despite my habit of knocking it to the floor on a regular basis.

Sad to hear the page has degraded to a "fanboy" site since I lurked there but URC did have it's uses back then, for sure.

You should try a dry case like this:

http://www.amazon.com/DryCASE-Water-Proof-iPhone-Smartphones-DC-13/dp/B002SXMO88

It's made to keep electronics dry when you're boating (kayaking, canoeing, etc.).

I didn't have a Ziploc bag handy, so I took an ordinary press-lock sandwich bag, closed it, and held it under water for about 20 seconds. No air bubbles escaped and of course there was no water inside the bag.
