Someday I have to get a good sub (and a better room) to appreciate this song of hers....

I caught the last 60 seconds of an interview with Imelda May today. It was on NPR's Here and Now. The link has the audio of the 10-minute interview.

Went to see Terri Clark last night in Huntsville Ontario. The Algonquin Theater was a very intimate venue - I think I was only three meters away from her - and her band was very good. I didn't know much about her (got tickets for a super-fan as a gift) but is she ever an excellent performer! She seems to be on a big Canadian tour so if there are any country fans in the crowd, you may want to check it out.

I liked the way she handled all her big hits from years past - she created a medley, so everyone could sing their favorite part and move on. Fun idea!

Last night my son and I had the pleasure of meeting and listening to drummer Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson). Gavin was in Vancouver for a Sonor Drums sponsored drum clinic. His level of enthusiasm, insight & knowledge made for a great 3 hours. He is very witty, funnny and gracious with his time (including photos & autographs). It is not often you get a chance to see world class musicians in a small hall and sit in the front row (10 feet from the drum kit).

For all you drummers out there, if you missed his performance on David Letterman, here it is:

Not last night but over the summer I saw The Dukes of September (Donald Fagen. Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald) At Red Rocks near Denver. Truly GREAT concert.
Also saw Big Head Todd and The Monsters there as well good show but not as good as the warm up band "Guster". They reminded me of a modern day Beach Boys. Their harmony anyway.

Guster seem to do really well live. I like the concert DVD I have of theirs. For some reason I've never gotten into their studio albums, though.

I took my son to go see Styx last night. All I can say is, it was a great concert.
