Question,

I need to run a coax cable through the attic and I currently have a 50 foot coax cable (the thicker, stiffer kind) that is terminated on each in with f-type connectors.

I plan on running that to f-type to rca connector wall plates. I then will have a 10 foot cable that connects my receiver to the first wall plate, and a 4 foot cable that connects the second wall plate to my ep500.

Will the length of cables proposed cause any problems with my sub? I could possibly cut a little of length off the the coax cable in the attic, but not much.

I might add, I connected the sub with the 50 foot coax cable while I was testing it in the new location. It didn't seem to have any adverse impacts, but not sure. Also will be added a couple of connectors and 14 more feet of cable to what I already tried.

Thanks!

David, if you're thinking about signal strength, it's essentially a non-issue at audio frequencies for coaxial cable(doesn't necessarily have to be the "thicker" kind; RG59 is fine)with the lengths used in home installations. Far more than what you're installing would cause no signal strength problems. Unusually severe electrical interference somewhere on the run could be a problem, but that's almost never a situation that arises in home environments.

Thanks John. I was thinking about signal strength. I thought that was the case but wanted to confirm.

My sub sounded much better in the back corner of my room. I'm moving it from the location shown in the first picture to the corner beneath the right surround in the second picture. After adjusting the spl to be the same at each location, I still felt and heard more "oomph" during the bluray clips I tested out with the sub at the back corner. Plus, this opens open the spot at the front for a second subwoofer some day wink

Should I change the phase switch on the ep500 over to 180 when the sub is at the back of the room?

Have you ordered that second subwoofer yet? wink

I still want to do the sub crawl in my new house which isn't so new, almost 2 years old now and I still haven't done much in the way of tweeking the system, just placed everything where the boss allowed me to put them and ran Audyssey.

Nah, there won't be any sub purchases for quite some time I imagine. I've pretty much got everything I wanted for the new house electronics wise (2 Tvs and vp180). We Need some new furniture in our guest room and I'd like to buy some weight equipment.

I thought about doing the sub crawl, but since I only really have two placement options I just tried them both. At first the wife was opposed to having the sub in the back corner but she's ok with it now.

I plan on running audyssey after I get my sub moved and and my vp180 stand in. I've never been thrilled with the results I've gotten from audyssey but hoping I hear some improvements at the new house.
