Hi all,
I have a 7-8 years old m80ti pair that I purchased new from Axiom. I read that there are many improvements done on the latest version of m80 v3. Do you think it makes sense to buy a new pair (mainly for stereo and HT 7.1 playback)? Does Axiom have any sort of upgrade offers for old customers?

Thanks much

Welcome. To me it would depend on how important it is to have the latest-greatest, and how much money I'm willing to throw at it. If I could afford it and think that I'd get the benefit of the exchange, then I'd probably do it. But, do so knowing that the sonic benefit might not be as noticeable as I might suspect.

There are noticeable improvements that I've heard others mention.

The only thing that Axiom has to offer for upgrade offers, is the ability to sell your speakers in their public auction. But, that's all. Monies gained though their auction becomes monies that can only be used by purchasing from them.

I still have the ti version with no plans to upgrade them. I did however put in an order for the new V160.

I have m60ti's with a VP180, the 180 is a V3 speaker... I can not personally tell a dramatic difference between the 180 and the 60's... they all sound about the same to me. Having the VP180 V3, i have no desire to upgrade my L/R speakers to V3 speakers... The only way i would upgrade my L/R would be for a different design than the m60's or m80's.. but that is another discussion...

Seems to me that the M80v1s will differ substantially from the v3's, I think it might be worth the cost of return shipping just to hear them for yourself.

I have the VP150 V3 with the ti's and I too think it blends just fine. If there's a difference it's not a dramatic one imo.

Thank you all. It doesn't look like I will gain much by replacing the m80ti with m80v3. Thanks much for your insights and helpful hints.
