Thought I would share what we have accomplished so far with my basement build which was for my parents to live in. I did the framing, electrical, flooring and the fireplace rock work, I had the drywall installed and mudded professionally and my father did the trim work and painting.

This is the fireplace/HT with my VP100/M22's and a Sharp 60" LCD, it was supposed to have built in cabinets on either side and a granite mantle all the way across but we ran out of time and money, this is what we ended up with:

This is the kitchenette, no stove but they have every other kitchen appliance known to man, still have to put up the glass tile back splash:

A quick shot showing off the cork flooring down the hallway with 2 bedrooms to the left (after the pantry cabinets), a computer nook on the right and the bathroom opening at the end of the hall to the right:

this is the computer nook, going to add some chair rail to each side as they are finding it a little narrow and scuffing the walls:

This the bathroom, yes IKEA loves us between this and the Kitchen purchases:

I really love that cork flooring. The bathroom looks great, too.

Ha ha, I was thinking the same thing before I scrolled down to read Peter's post. I really love that cork flooring.

Everything looks good, Jason. Thank you for sharing!

Very, very nice. Are there plans to add a stove?

I like the bathroom flooring, myself. That said, I've just made a commitment to myself that I will never have tile flooring in a bathroom again. Or at least not a bathroom I will use in the middle of the night. That stuff is COLD!

Fireplace is quite nice too, speaking of temperature.

Jason, the circumstances of this build is none of our business, but if I interpret things correctly, you are providing a place for your parents to live in the basement of your home. If I have that correct, having been my mother's caregiver in the last years of her life, all I can say is bravo, well done, and THANK YOU.

If I have misunderstood, I take it all back. grin wink

I usually wear socks to bed myself.

Not to be the one who complains :), but looking at pictures of that tv mounted high like that is giving me a stiff neck.
