Thanks to Johnny Be Good (real nice guy) I have M80's to match my VP150 and QS8's.

My first impression - WOW

But the ohm question is alive. On the website, it says it's a 4ohm speaker. On the speaker itself, it says 6 ohm. If you look here:
http://www.soundstagemagazine.com/measurements/axiom_m80ti/
The curve tells me the M80's are closer to a 5.5 ohm speaker. My Denon 1602 (low end receiver) drives them perfectly fine so far, which is about 4 hours of usage. Bass is overpowering and it's rated 70wpc at 8 ohm, 110wpc at 6ohm.

SO, if ever you have an amp that you're not sure can drive the 4 ohm load of the M80's, I would think it would. It seems to never drop below 4 and average somehwere between 5 and 6.

Should Axiom change the website to say it's a 6ohm speaker?

Ravi,

glad you like them... ravi don't ever put a resitor on those babies, like i said if you ever decide to change amps... shop around for a amp that is not overly bright... in my case i got to audition both the avr-5803 & avr-4802 and came to the conclusion that the avr5803 was way too bright (to a point of pain to my ears) and that the avr4802 was the clear choice (sounded much more narural) also did like the yamaha's or marantz hi-end with the M80's

i sort of feel that adding to change the balance of speakers (with resitors) is not the anwser to the real problem, these speakers were designed and balance in a cetain way to re-create sound, modifying this will alter the way they intended them to sound, so overall the choice of an amp is important and not all amps sound the same... and don't sound the same to everyone's ear either...
thats why it is important to have the right mix... real bright reciever... go with m-60's.. warm recievers go m-80's I also know that axiom did alot of thier lisening tests with denons... but like i said different models sound different also

and at the end of the day the choice is yours....

just my 2 cents

best regards,

Johnny Be Good
