My first camera was a Nikon. I shoot a Nikon F4 regularly and sometimes my F100. My favorite camera is my Mamiya 7ii.

I take a lot of pictures of my wife, and she slowly got into the hobby and now really enjoys taking pictures too.

I have been adverse to getting a digital camera but was thinking about doing it. Tonight, my wife announces that she wants a new camera. Great I said. Let's look at the Nikons.
No. She wants.......a Canon.

Canon AE-1 Program? I wistfully asked....hoping......hoping

No. She wants a Canon DSLR. Because it's red.

I tried to talk her out of it. But to no avail. I just ordered it for her.

I have a Canon 5D mk1 and really like it... my uncle has Nikon gear... We get along though.... Digital is SO much easier and less expensive... i dont know if you have a mac or pc, but if you have a mac i would highly recommend getting apature. it is basically just like editing in a darkroom... Adobe came out with lightroom the program. However, i liked apples product much more. Also, get an external raid 1 raid array.. You will notice that with the Digital, you can take a lot more photos, and you can get instant feedback as to your expose settings, the histograms are wonderful for calibrating your exposure...

Anyhow, i could go on... Maybe after i take my midterm tomorrow... Applied regression.... (insert puke face)

Buy her the one you can afford and get her a little red bag to carry it in. Besides, it doesn't matter what color it is when it will spend 99% of it's life at the bottom of her Vuillton.

If I weren't so fond of her, I could suggest that you buy the cheapest Canon you can find, bring it home and beat her senseless with it. When she regains consciousness, hand it to her, Voila! Red! (When it's completely dry, bring it over and I'll give it a nice spray clearcoat.)

Or.....find out how much it costs in Thailand. If it's much less, give her the $$ and she can get it next month.

Always call the place you live a house. When you're old, everyone else will call it a home.

I've been using my wife's new camera. It is a shooter. Lots of fun. She really likes it.
