 M-80 vs. Canton Karat 70

My brother and I are upgrading our ht/audio systems and he bought this canton karat speakers. I'm planning to get the M-80 and I'm not sure if these 2 speakers are comparable. Price wise, the cantons sell for $2400/pair,price is not an issue. Can the M-80 outperform this cantons? When i listened to the cantons, they sounded good. I want my speaker choice to be much better than his performance wise and aesthetics within the same price range that he paid. Both of us have Yamaha RXV-1 as pre-pro, Threshold 250 watts/channel amp and Z-series bi-wire Monster cable all around. Thanks!

One point of note, the M80s appear to be well BELOW the Canton price range.
If they do stack up, then you should have spare money to buy a new cd player, dvd and months worth of popcorn to boot.
