Alrighty! That's what I'm talking about!
It seems like the only drives I've ever had fail are WD, so I was looking for "try brand x".
Mark, I don't know. I'm using a 500GB now and there's plenty of space. I think I have 300-400GB of all content, but it would be pretty easy for me to split it into a pictures disk and a music disk.

Just to be clear, my Seagate's are internal SATA drives, just plugged (docked) into the NAS enclosure. I may be wrong, but the difference to me between 'internal' vs 'external' drives is not the drive itself, but simply what it is plugged into.

I forgot I have two Seagate 500GB external drives. When I back up my PS3 the drive gets pounded for 12 hours non-stop, and other than getting a little warm it's not had any problems. Indeed it's just one of their 2.5 inch laptop drives inside a USB enclosure.

My experience over the last 15+ years is I see way more Seagate drives fail than WD. I'm looking at a bad Seagate drive right now.

Weirdest thing - a day after posting about the Seagate drives, I got a Seagate advertisement email for this device which might be kinda cool for tablet users. The weird part is I don't recall ever getting spam from Seagate until I posted about them....they're watching you!
