Agreed. The Wolverine hairdo is what really makes it. Must be hard to play the banjo if your knuckle fangs pop out though.

I've been re-watching Dollhouse. I still think they do a good job with the concept, even if the science gets a bit fuzzy and impractical quite often. That's probably impossible to sidestep in science fiction.

While I agree with CatBrat that most of the characters are a little flat, I disagree about the characters in Firefly being any better. I do think Fran Kranz as Topher Brink and Olivia Williams as Adelle DeWitt are great, though. They tend to steal the show. I still absolutely hate Tahmoh Penikett as Paul Ballard. Every bit of his body language just seems to rub me the wrong way. While his character isn't the greatest, I think I'd be a lot less bothered by it if it had been another actor.

I'm about a third of the way through the second season. I've forgotten how it all plays out, so we'll see if I like it as much the second time through. I seem to remember Topher Brink's character having some more great moments....

I'm a fan of some Japanese movies. Well...since I'm sort of Japanese (half Okinawan actually), I take an interest in their culture in general. Anyhow, some of the weirdest movies come from Japan...and I love them! grin Recently, I watched, Confessions. A grieving mother gets revenge on her daughter's killers in way you'd never expect. Wow! Next up is Battle Royale...sort of Japan's version of The Hunger Games.

I've seen Battle Royale, and I liked it more than the tepid Hunger Games movie (haven't read the books, though). I haven't seen the sequel, but I did just get the collection on Blu-ray, so I'll have to do that soon.

It's been a while since I've studied their chests.

I still really love the sound of "the disruptor" in Dollhouse. Very satisfying subwoofer fun. I really need to remember to use it as demo material.

I finally watched The Shining. There are a lot of classic movies I haven't seen, so at least that's one to scratch from the list. I did like the way it was made, even if I didn't find it scary. I think it's simply been referenced way too many times to seem new to me, even though I hadn't seen it. In any case, I did think the picture looked good, considering the years, and the sound was decent, too. Some nice touches with the camera-work.

Have you seen Audition? One of the few movies to creep me out in recent years. And I just looked, of course it was directed by Takashi Miike.

I watched that one once. For some reason, I haven't felt the need to watch it again. Ha ha.

I've recently took notice of Hayao Miyazaki as a famous Japanese Animator, after buying Ponyo and The Secret Work of Arrietty. I've also rented Howle's Moving Castle a couple of times. Now I'm interested in purchasing all of his full feature animations that I can find. Unfortunately, only a few are on blu-ray, most on DVD, or worse. So far, my list is as follows:

The Secret World of Arrietty - 2010
Ponyo - 2008
Whisper of the Heart - 2006
My Neighbors the Yamadas - 2005
Porco Rosso - 2005
The Cat Retuns - 2005
Howle's Moving Castle - 2004
Spirited Away - 2001
Princess Mononoke - 1997
Pom Poko - 1994
Kiki's Delivery Service - 1989
My Neighbor Totoro - 1988
Grave of the Fireflies - 1988
Castle in the Sky - 1986
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind - 1984
Space Adventure Cobra - 1982
Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro - 1979
