Totally off topic here, but I am amazed at the collective knowledge here, so I figured I would post here and ask you guys.

Any one aware of any software for faxing from a windows desktop environment? Have a department of abou 50 users who all need the ability here at work, so just seeing if anyone uses something at work they can reccomend.

Well, their faxstf thing for the Mac isn't half bad, so here's Smith Micro's Windows product: HotFax. I don't know anything about it, but hey...

Windows has faxing built in, but requires a phone line connection. Everyone being on a LAN here, just wont work. I have seen a few apps out there that are server based, and use MS Outlook to send a "fax" to your server, which then sends it out.

Oh. I didn't realize you were going for that. Hm.. I don't know if HotFax will do what you're looking for, either.

I'm not sure about a software solution, but Xerox has a bunch of products that are network printer/fax/copiers. You can fax directly from the device, or from each computer on the LAN by sending a job to it -- similar to how you'd print to a network printer.

Here's a page about one such product. (It costs $6000, though.)

Windows has Fax software built in. There is also Castelle's Faxpress.
