I would continue to keep improving upon the sound, go for the subs.

my advice is: change the receiver only if it does not have enough power or it's missing on some features you want.
an unnecessary change will not improve the audio quality.

what would change the sound quality would be for you to get a new sub that will go down to 16 Hz; it is good for music sometimes, but much more so for movies.
there is a world of difference between a sub that goes down to 25-32 Hz and another one that does well right down to 16 Hz.
THAT would make a big difference for your listening pleasure.

everyone seems to say the sub.. so what is the best bang for the buck.. SVS or HSU or ep500?

why I wanted to change the amp, it's missing HDMI for the pvr & 3d blu-ray

Earlier you asked EP-600, or two EP-500's. Most would suggest two slightly smaller subs, are generally better than one larger sub. By showing an interest in the EP-500, you might consider the EP-350 as well. Two of these would leave you with plenty of headroom in that 2000 cu.ft. HT Room of yours.

There is at least one 350 in B stock right now for $626, in black oak (I see from your pics you have this finish now) call Axiom they may have two. In worse case you might have to wait a bit for the second one. At $626 x 2 = 1252 that's less than the price of one EP-500 (1270). That would leave you with just under $1300 for that new AVR. This would be only one of several options that you could consider. Good luck.

Happy you're happy!

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Jay (jakewash) has compared the PB13-Ultra and EP-500. He's unfortunately not around as much, so you could try sending him a PM.

Inquiries about comparisons between the two aforementioned subs are quite common. Maybe one of the guys here will be able to provide you with a link to an old thread.

Peace

Johnk has 2 EP500's he may be able to give you some input..

Personally, I would recommend going with a pair of subs equivalent to the EP600.. If not the 600, the something similar to it from another company.. My room is 2400cu/ft. I can tell you that there was a significant difference between 1 and 2 EP-600's in my room...
