Okay everyone. I had it all figured out. I actually ordered the Harman Kardon AVR-630. It's on it's way from One-Call. Got it for a great price. But now the government is giving me back money this tax season...WAY MORE than I expected to get back (too bad right). So...there's a lot going on at my household in terms of electronics now. I get my tax money next Friday. I'll have the VP150, M60s, QS8s, and M2 to fill out the rear back (7.1 in all). And I'll be ordering the SVS PB2-Plus. But my question is really about the receiver.
I was originally thinking about getting an Outlaw 950/7100 combo. Will I need this? Will this be worth the extra $900 over the Harman Kardon 630 I just ordered. The H/K is not even here yet so I do have the option to just refuse the package if I don't want it. It's coming Wednesday so I have to think fast. Help would be welcomed! Thanks!

I'm not one to give out financial advice -- I'll leave that to JohnK -- but before you go crazy with the purchases, I'd wait and see if the H/K will work before you replace it with the Outlaw combo. Does it come with a money-back guarantee?

The Outlaw combo would be really sweet -- and is a great deal in its own right -- but $900 is $900. That's the cost of a PB2-Plus right there.

MT, since I do some taxation advice, as Peter may have implied the first thing you get from me is a little slap on the wrist for over-withholding for income tax on your W-4 and giving the federal government an interest-free loan.

Now on HK vs the Outlaws, of course you don't need those separates; the 630 will have plenty of power and has some interesting features such as Logic 7 and its excellent bass management that the Outlaws don't have. If that money is going toward AV stuff, buy more CDs and DVDs to enjoy on your fine system.

Great advice John, esp. on the "interest free loan" for the government, I only wish more people would see it that way. It's a prety poor way to save money.

I also think the 630 is a good fit.

Yeah...who knew...I didn't! I guess having kids really pays off That and some other things I qualified for to save even more money. I'm just glad that I go to an accountant rather than try to figure it all out myself So, seems like the concensus is to keep the H/K. I guess I was wondering in terms of sonic quality if I'd gain anything? But I imagine I'll probably be fine.

Hey Misfit,

I have tried a lot of receiver with Axiom and to me, Harman Kardon matched up the best with it. My brother have the same receiver HK AVR630 as you, and he is ecstatic.

Another VERY happy HK630 / M60/QS8/VP150 owner right here!

Try it first. See what you think. This system will play clean at unbelievably loud volume levels. You did not mention room size. Mine is 16x16x8.

Good luck, (I know you'll enjoy)

M- M60s/VP150/QS8s/SVS PC-Ultra/HK630 Sit down. Shut up. Listen.

Room size is approximately 15x20 with 15-20 ft. cathedral ceilings. I figure it'll fill the room pretty well. Thanks for the encouragement!

I love my 630! The only bad thing that I have to say about it is has to do with the remote. The receiver is awesome, the remote, well, they could have done better with it. I guess its still decent for a bundled up remote.
