Hi Everyone,

With the new BDP 105 shipping now, what are your thoughts on the likely trend for used pricing on the 95? I've been seeing prices in the $800 range or more, and this seems high for a used piece that retails for $1000. Will this trend down as people sell their 95 to buy a 105? Or will the advantages of the 105 not be so clear?

Happy Thanksgiving!

A bit pricey I agree. Being a former business owner for five years I can tell you one thing for sure. Something, anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, period! I would think something in the $550-$650 range might be more along the lines of equitable value here though.

Funny you should ask that question because I was just thinking the same thing. I bought a BDP95 a little over a year ago and looking at the comparable 105, the only additional feature that really stood out to me was the HDMI "inputs" that would allow connection of external items in order to utilize the internal video processing power of the player. There are a few other minor odds and ends but it is essentially much the same as the 95, although a little taller. Looking at it primarily as a Blu-Ray player both visually and audibly, no matter how much I analyse it, I really can't see how one can improve on the quality of the BDP95.

I bought the 95, in shear vanity, primarily for the looks, not the use of the analog section. Given all that, I might just keep my 95 and buy the 103 which gives me all the same other features anyway for half the money of the 105.

To say the least, it will be a "monumental" decision of "epic" proportions.

I'll probably buy the 103 because I tend to replace my players often, and currently have the 93. Any thing else would seem like a downgrade.

The 83s have the ability to play ripped CD ISO (?) files, if they have an older firmware version that allows it. That's what is driving their cost up. Not so sure about what is floating the price of the other players.
