Trying to keep another thread from going completely off topic...

I found this online and found it fasinating. The one that really gets me is calling all soft drinks "coke". That just doesn't even make any sense at all.

Being from Northern New England myself we're one of the tiny little niches that call it "tonic". Though these days I usually call drinks by name or use "soda".

I've always either called them by their trade names, or collectively as soft drinks or drinks.

Now THIS is my thread... I drink between 2L and 4L of Pepsi a day (switched from Coke about 2 years ago after learning of the Sintrainal assassinations)... ahh, yes, there's still some blood in my caffeine stream.

spiff, can't forget new england? "you can drive to the packie, get some tonic and hooch and have a wicked pissa night" sounds so much more distinguished than "have a good night". don'tcha think?

OK, from a bonafide TEXAN.. its COKE, all the way.. can, bottle, plastic, or fountain.. doesn't matter..

when ordering.. its COKE.. then, waitress asks, "what flavor"? then you answer.. "mountain dew, dr pepper, etc".. its that easy.. dont ask me who invented the system, i just use it.. i usually get iced tea anyway, i hate coke with food.. most places in TEXAS, all tea is un-sweet.. it always throws me off in my travels, when the waitress asks me, "sweet or un-sweet".. i always have that blank pause................ oh, sweet.. and i like it SWEET.. like southern baptist church revival kinda sweet..

and us TEXANS hate the way you yankees sound, just about as much as you hate the way we sound.. so i guess it all works out.. luckily, our posts dont speak!!!

TEXAS VOCABULARY LESSON..

1- MOMEN NEMS, momen nems gone down to the super wal-mart to get sum beer..

2- DERSAGO, dersago on the right or the left??

3- SOPINERE, looks like they have some good deals, sopinere and lets see what they got..

i know, kinda weak.. eh??

It's "wickid smaht"...if yer going to make fun of New Englanders...get it right.

btw...I don't now, nor have I ever spoken like a Northern New Englander. When I hear my mom speak on the phone it give me shudders some times. How I turned out speaking "normal", I don't know.
