Hello
Is a Sony CDP-C 701 ES a better model than a Sony CDP-C 75 ES?? (69 ES vesus 601 ES...... etc...) I am wondering if it is just a later version and pretty much the same? These are said to be very good cd players even by today's standards. I have read in forums that many like them better than some of the high end stuff that are only single disc players today. I know it is somewhat subjective, but any info and thoughts about the differences / similarities appreciated. Ron3033 |

Ron, I don't have any personal info on either of those players, and I doubt that other members would either, since they're 20-25 years old. My thoughts are that even with players that old, if they're in good operating condition, there would be no significant sound differences. If that's the case, I would much prefer to go with the 5-disc 75, since a multiple disc capacity is one of my basic requirements in a player.

I've had two Sony 5-Disc CD Players & one 5-Disc DVD Player; however, they were not the higher end ES line. I never had a problem with any of the disc changing mechanisms; however, the very first one's laser failed after 10 years. The other CD & DVD are still running nicely after 10 years or more. I doubt that the newer ones will have such longevity.
The only problem that I see with what you are looking at is - How much life is left in them? TAM |
