There's an interesting report out showing Amazon stealing marketshare from Apple for music downloads.

Amazon has 22% of the market and iTunes is now at 63%.

Where do you buy your music? Is your choice based on selection, price, gift cards you receive, quality, or other? Do you buy from just one place, or do you buy from several?

I get all my stuff off Amazon because usually when I go into HMV they have to order it anyway.

I voted for two, but I buy CDs from Amazon and AACs from Apple.

Most of our purchases are for the iPods, so we go thru iTunes and that's where the vote went. But if I order a (SA)CD for the higher resolution, we usually go thru Amazon.

Amazon for discs AND downloads. I started using them for MP3s because at the time they were using higher data rate files. I think others offer that now too.

I buy from just about everywhere they sell CD's. Amazon, Target, Walmart. But I've discovered a music/video store that sells new and used in a small town I frequent only about ever 6 weeks now. So, I'll probably be buying from them for the most part, because of the cheaper prices.

I don't buy unless it comes on a disc.

No options for me in the 'Poll'.

As I have been into SACDs for the past year, most of my purchases are from EBAY. It has the largest SACD selection from a myriad of vendors & often beat Amazon in cost. I presently have 2 from ebay on their way from the US for a total of $28 - pretty good deal IMHO.

Before I choose an album, I search the web for 'track samples' that are widely available & make my mind up then.

I occasionally buy a CD or DVD/BD concert video from a local retailer if the price is right.

I too like to have the physical medium in my collection, so I never download music. I guess that I'm a dinosaur...

I buy CDs from Amazon, they give me the MP3s for free, and I upload them to Google Play. So I voted for Amazon.

I try to buy CDs from Amazon.com. I still rip them into FLAC myself, but the AutoRip feature is nice for automatically having the MP3s in the cloud in case my normal MP3 player runs out of juice and I want to keep listening to my music with another device. I will occasionally buy the download, no CD, if it's a band I don't know well yet, the price is good, and there are exclusive tracks, like I did with Austra's album.

iTunes tends to be my last resort, but of course I'm a sucker for exclusive tracks, so they do make it into my purchase history.

The majority of CDs that I buy are from third party sellers on Amazon who have outstanding bargain prices on new or used items. I occasionally use a classical specialist such as Arkiv or one of the UK dealers such as MDT.

I buy many of my CDs from a local second hand reseller. I miss the days where part of the buying experience was browsing through the album art. I bought my share of albums based on art I absolutely loved.

I'm going to have to spend more time checking out ebay.

Edit: the art on CDs is just not big enough to have the same impact as album art. Sigh...

Yeah, I guess that's why I ended up with all the Frank Zappa albums.

Almost all of my music is bought through Amazon and that is for CDs. Generally I don't do downloads and prefer to rip the CDs to my computer.

Back in the day, Best Buy used to have a decent music selection. I enjoyed the selection better at Borders, but the exorbitant pricing sucked. But, things have changed for both places.

I forgot to mention that I also like to buy directly from the bands' websites if they offer any compelling exclusives or are priced competitively. I like to pretend they get a higher cut if I buy directly from them, but I have no idea how often that's actually true.

Most of cd and dvd purchases are through Amazon. Periodically I'll purchase from Burning Shed in England for special edition sets (Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Gavin Harrison etc.).

Most of the CD's I buy now days are from...eeek. walmart.. or similar. My music tastes are more mainstream than not but the selection in stores these days is lacking no doubt about it. I used to have some great music stores nearby that sold used cd's and had a excellent selection that I also utilized.

If it is something which I only want one or two tracks I'll just get it off amazon downloads. Amazon does not feel the need to tell me how I should use my product the way apple does and it is also so much easier than itunes, which quite frankly is probably the worst and most frustrating program I have ever used... Much like everything else apple creates.

Recently I acquired a USB DAC capable of all types of High Res formats including DSD so I may start to change my music purchasing habits if the small high res niche takes off. Not much for music selection I am interested in at the moment. Prices are also an issue with the average high res download at $25+ per album.

I do also still much prefer to buy an actual hard copy of something rather than just a download. I feel pretty cheated paying the same amount for a downloaded album as the actual disc.

Never buy CDs from Walmart. They support censorship of music, and many of the albums there contain the "radio" versions of songs, where as you'd get the actual album version if you bought it anywhere else.

I believe it is a an expression of positive agreement in Spanish.
more phonetically spelled, Indeed-o

Kind of like SNG in Spanish, "Engago!"

I though "Engago!" was what El Capitan Picard said on Estar Trek: La Generación Segunda.
