We have Tom's GE Profile dual fuel stove as well. Mostly because Tom is my hero. It's 7 years old now and continues to work perfectly. I would highly recommend the GE line although I can't speak to newer models. Unless something drastic changed, I would suspect they are still an excellent choice in thier price range.

I'll never be without gas top burners again. It's just sooo much better to have instant temperature adjustment. Like Tom, the gas oven portion just didn't appeal to us. We are very happy with the hybrid version and the GE is proving to be a good choice long term.

Another plus of the gas burners is being able to flame roast chili peppers!!!!

I had no idea that hybrid ovens existed.

Someday I'll have a gas range again, but not for a long time. No desire to spend more money on appliances this year, thank you Mr. Water Heater.

I really appreciate the input from you guys! it looks like the dual fuel idea may be the way to go. There doesn't seem to be too many choices once you start narrowing down what you want...in our case, we don't want that traditional look where the control panel sticks up over the back but instead have the controls integrated into the front for a nice flat cook-top. This, combined with 5-6 burners, dual fuel in a 30" package limits our choices.
Andrew, we looked at the GE Profile as well as the GE Cafe, both are similar but look slightly different. Where the Cafe looks more "industrial", the profile has a more modern look to it. That's good to know you've had no reliability issues with it which is probably our most important criteria. Some people have complained about very loud fan noise on the GE's, others say they're quiet....
Tom, thank you for your input( we're looking at some Vikings too) and I really appreciate your input Shawn, you're kind of the resident gas guy on the forums here.

I lost that honor when I reduced the fiber in my diet.

Have I been helpful yet?

Don't worry, Mark, your record is safe. As long as you ignore the wood thread.

Well, there you go. Too bad the Wolf only has 4 burners.

Thanks for the validation, Murph. I'm simply aglow.

Ken, I don't know if the OVEN is hybrid; what I've seen are ranges that have NG cooktops and 220V ovens.

Adrian, I don't find the sound of the GE convection fan objectionable.

When we briefly tried to cook on an electric range, the results were poor and the process was torment.

Adrian, Consumer Reports tested electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges in the December issue. The GE Profile PHB925SPSS($1500)was the top-rated gas model with the Frigidaire Gallery FGGF3032MW($800)not far behind and receiving the "Best Buy" designation. The dual-fuel KitchenAid KDRS505XSS($2200)was rated only slightly lower, but their owner survey indicated that KitchenAid was significantly more repair-prone.

They also commented under "More burners, same space" about maneuvering problems in using five burners simultaneously.
