Can someone tell me hoe deep the port tubes go on the M60?
I am looking to buy these speakers. I have QS-8s and they are excellent.

Thanks

Regards. Jim

I'm sure someone would be able to tell you, but I'm curious as to why you want to know...

LOL, Ken.

I know that they're long enough so that your average cat can't stick its paw all the way through, but short enough so that a gerbil won't get lost in them.

But they're M60s, not your M22s. They could be utterly different :-P

Small,

I'll gladly measure them for you, but only after you tell me why.

small, just as a matter of general information I was fortunate to run across in the forum here, you can tune the m60s by stuffing an average sized cat into each port. This of course doesn't give you a specific answer relative to depth, but it should assist you in a rough approximation of the volume capacity of each port.

My technical skills are wanting and I am unable to articulate this answer in a more numerical manner, so I am hopeful Bren will be able to step in and take this to it's next level. I have been reading his posts with some interest and he has displayed a technical expertise that, I believe, we should all strive to emulate.

I just pulled out the tape measure, m60 ports: ~2" diameter x ~5.5" depth

For my own sanity, I'm going to assume there was no sarcasm in that. Audio and video (and especially compression schemes) are subjects I've got more than just a passing interest in. I was enraptured by the idea of digital audio when I first realized that using my C64 to poll a 0820ADC a few thousand times a second would give me a digitized audio stream, a lot of trial and error after that gave me the fundamentals.

ie:
a 50%-50% mix of two digital audio signals is
(samp1+samp2)/2 - just an average... that blew my (13 year old) mind

Started playing with ways to compress video images shortly after that... was all just a hobby... then 10 years later, it becomes a part of my job.
