Take heart my friend - that was absolutely a compliment!! I regard your posts as a glimpse into techno knowledge I'll likely never get to otherwise. .

Amen. Bren, like many of the other regulars here, you educate me in ways that are effective and energizing. This is a good place because of people like you.

Ditto! I just wish you spoke English, though. Remember! Us poor mortals who are technically challenged can't understand an engineer's foreign language.

I appreciate it, Ray!

And if I do resort to technobabble on anything and someone actually cares for clarification, just let me know? I try not to post 3 page epics.

I should have waited longer to reply so I could see just how many more insults people could throw my way.

The reason I asked for the port parameters is because I currently own QS-8s used in surround in my 7.1 home theater. I am looking to replace my mains, but in order to properly timber match I need speaker parameters.

Since Axiom is so terrible in their descriptions of speakers and performance I am using a computer program to simulate the response, based on the parameters of the drivers and ports etc.

I can't find anyone in my area who carries Axiom, so I can't just drive down the street and listen to em.

It's too expensive to buy em, ship em and then find out they aren't right for my room.

Hope this answers everyone's questions.

small, maybe if you gave us your location in your bio, one of us could turn out to be a neighbor.

Yikes! Those weren't insults. We're just a bit 'sensitive' about our ports, is all.

Hopefully the on-topic responses you got will be helpful.

small, I don't want to belittle anyone's personal efforts to improve their HT, but do you really think that the Axiom M60s will be LESS timbre matched with AXIOM QS8s compared to any other speaker out there?
Have some confidence that the Axiom engineers already know how to design their speakers so they at least match up with other models built within the same company.
A home computer simulation program pales in comparison to the research already put into speaker design regardless of the company (assuming they actually do more research than marketing that is).

Jim, I'm no scientist and I mean no disrespect.

But are you really suggesting that your theoretical analysis of speaker parameters is going to somehow "prove" that M60's do not suitably timbre-match the QS8's? I think you are WAY over analyzing this. Axiom's R/D seems pretty complete, and I'd humbly suggest they have probably already taken care of this analysis to the point where your work is redundant. I mean, it might be an amusing academic exercise, but you really can't know more from a software program than you can from listening, can you? I'd call and talk to the Axiom geeks directly rather than spend a lot of time trying to replicate or disprove complex, existing research. But I never liked Physics anyway.

What mains are you using now?

If you like the QS8's, you're probably going to like the M60's.
